Color Knitting Temptations
Since it was such a beautiful day yesterday, I took a little trip to visit Yuzawaya, a large craft shop in nearby Kichijoji. Of the eight floors devoted to all things crafty, half of one floor is filled with yarn and knitting goods of all sorts. They mostly carry Japanese brands, but there are a few foreign lines as well (though not Rowan...alas).
After spending an inordinate amount of time looking around and being indecisive, I purchased a few things:
The book is by Toshiyuki Shimada whose other work, New Style of Heirloom Knitting includes the sweater for the Crossed in Translation Knit Along. The one I purchased is his second book with patterns for gloves, mittens, hats, and scarves with traditional Nordic motifs. One even looks like a relative of the Frostrosen Mittens-- see!
And the yarns I purchased will be for these mittens:
So cute! The red spots you see on the cuff band are not knitted in, but are little french knots embroidered at the end. I still have to buy yarn for that, but I'll wait until I get to that point.
I'm really excited about all the patterns in the book-- I sense a lot of color knitting in the near future!
Oh Yuki, that looks like such a nice book! They really know how to take great pictures over there!
Can you please tell me where I can order this book? Please? :-)

Hi! I missed many of your posts and you have so many nice wips.
I've seen that book before but since I don't know how to knit gloves I didn't buy it. I am sure you will show us beautiful fos from this book in the near future.

That's a beautiful book that I have seen at my local Kinokuniya. I didn't know the author is the same person who authored New Style of Heirloom Knitting, which I love. Thanks for the info.

I love the gloves. I hope I can do something that advanced one day!
